Trademark attribution, editorial scope, age restriction, and operating entity information.

Operating Entity Freshie is published by Veryation, a sole proprietorship operating under that name as a registered DBA. For any legal, business, or editorial inquiries, email hello@veryation.com.

Age restriction

This site is intended for readers who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. In the United States, that is 21 years of age or older. Other countries have varying minimum drinking ages (typically 18 or 19). If you are not of legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, please leave this site.

Freshie does not sell, ship, or directly facilitate the sale of alcoholic beverages. The site provides educational information about beer freshness, brewery date code formats, and craft beer culture. When we link to retailer partners, those retailers are responsible for verifying purchaser age and complying with applicable alcohol laws.

Trademark attribution

Freshie references the names, logos, and product names of approximately 45 craft breweries and several alcohol retailers. All such names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for editorial and informational reference only.

The use of brewery and retailer names on this site does not imply:

Brewery and retailer names are referenced descriptively, in service of helping consumers understand date codes, freshness windows, and product context. This is consistent with nominative fair use under United States trademark law.

If you are a trademark holder and believe your mark is being used inappropriately on this site, please contact hello@veryation.com. We will review and respond promptly.

Editorial accuracy disclaimer

Freshie's brewery date code formats, shelf life curves, and freshness verdicts are compiled from a combination of brewery documentation, public sources, community contributions, and direct verification where possible. This information is provided as-is and without warranty of any kind.

Brewery date code conventions may change without notice. Freshness curves are heuristics based on style averages — actual shelf life varies by storage temperature, exposure to light, packaging integrity, and many other factors. Freshie's verdicts are educational guidance, not laboratory analysis.

Before making any time-sensitive purchase decision, particularly for high-value or rare beers, verify the date code interpretation with the source brewery. Freshie disclaims liability for any commercial decisions made based on information presented on this site.

Affiliate relationships

Some links on this site are affiliate links. Freshie may earn small commissions from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to readers. Detailed disclosure is on our affiliates page. All affiliate links are tagged with appropriate rel="nofollow sponsored" attributes per FTC guidance.

Camera scanner and Vision API

The optional camera scan feature processes uploaded photos through a third-party computer vision API (currently Google Gemini). Photos are transmitted in real time and are not stored on our servers or in any database; they are discarded after the OCR result is returned. Per the API provider's commercial tier terms, submitted images are not used for model training. See our privacy policy for full details on data handling.

Browser extension

The Freshie browser extension is distributed under the MIT License for the source code. Extension users agree to the terms of their browser store of acquisition (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, etc.) in addition to the practices described in our privacy policy. The extension is provided as-is; Freshie is not liable for any retailer site behavior changes that affect extension functionality.

User-contributed content

Freshie accepts community-contributed brewery additions and corrections via GitHub issues and pull requests. Contributors agree that submissions may be incorporated into the site under the same MIT License covering the project source. Freshie reserves the right to edit, decline, or remove contributed content for any reason.

Governing law and jurisdiction

This site is operated from the United States. Any disputes arising from use of this site are governed by the laws of the State of California, where the operating entity is registered. By using this site, you agree to resolve any disputes in the courts of San Mateo County, California.
