American Pale Ales balance hop character with malt backbone, which gives them more shelf life than IPAs. The lower hop loads mean less aroma to oxidize, and the malt provides a more stable flavor base. Classic English-style Pale Ales hold up even better thanks to traditional hops with more stable profiles.
Refrigeration helps but isn't critical. A cool basement or pantry works for 60-90 days. Avoid direct sunlight on bottles.
Two months from packaging is the sweet spot. Drinkable through 4 months. After that, hop character flattens significantly.
